About the role

Target is seeking On‑Demand Team Members (TM) to serve as Guest Advocates. This position offers a personalized, flexible schedule where you create your own shifts by picking them up through the myTime mobile scheduling app. You will help families discover the joy of everyday life by delivering friendly, efficient service at check‑lanes, guest services, gift registry, order pick‑up, and drive‑up areas.

As an On‑Demand TM you will attend a Target Welcome orientation and a short‑term structured training program before beginning shift pick‑up. Ongoing attendance, promptness, and active engagement (at least one shift every four weeks and a minimum of four hours) are required. Failure to respond to scheduling communications or to work at least one shift within five months may result in termination.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly (within 10 ft, smile, make eye contact; within 4 ft, initiate helpful interaction).
  • Assist guests in finding items, resolving issues, and ensuring a smooth shopping experience.
  • Thank each guest sincerely at the end of the transaction.
  • Support team members and assist in other areas while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Adapt to business and guest needs to deliver an easy, inspiring experience.
  • Scan and bag items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food‑safety standards.
  • Minimize guest wait time while maintaining service quality and accuracy.
  • Promote current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
  • Explain and encourage enrollment in Target Loyalty programs, assisting with sign‑up and sign‑in.
  • Guide guests on fulfillment services (order pick‑up, drive‑up, registry) and help them activate and use these services.
  • Demonstrate use of the Target Wallet and other features within the Target App.
  • Process returns according to register prompts, partnering with leaders as needed.
  • De‑escalate situations and recover guest experiences in line with Target policies.
  • Provide accurate service to Order Pick‑Up, Drive‑Up, and Registry guests.
  • Maintain a clean, clutter‑free work area, including gathering abandoned items, baskets, and hangers.
  • Stock supplies during store hours while remaining available to assist guests.
  • Follow safety policies, report hazards, and work safely at all times.
  • Support guest services such as order pick‑up, drive‑up orders, and drive‑up returns, complying with all applicable adult‑beverage laws.
  • Perform any other duties as required by business needs.

Requirements & Skills

  • Accurate cash register operations and cash‑handling skills.
  • Physical ability to lift/move merchandise up to 10 lb regularly and up to 44 lb occasionally without assistance.
  • Flexibility to pick up shifts as needed and respond promptly to scheduling communications.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and outdoor elements (e.g., drive‑up, carry‑out areas).
  • Mobility to remain active for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Schedule

This is an on‑demand position. You will not appear on the posted weekly schedule; instead, you will select available shifts through the myTime mobile app. Shifts may vary in time of day, day of week, and length. You must pick up and work at least one shift every four weeks (minimum four hours) and work at least one shift within five months of hire. Flexibility is required, and you must respond to contact attempts regarding shift availability.
