On-call Structural Steel Inspector
About the role
This Opportunity WSP is currently seeking a On-call Structural Steel Inspector to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. This is a technical field and office position that requires travel to various locations within the US and in some cases to Canada.
Responsibilities
- Inspection of welding, steel fabrication, coatings, expansion joints, bridge bearings, sign structures, bridge beams, drainage structures, and other structural components
- Maintenance of compliance with approved shop drawings, standards, and specifications
- Communication and interaction with owners, fabricators, engineers, and other CWIs and NDT technicians
- Writing daily shop / field reports in digital format
- Participation in WSP safety meetings
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 9+ years relevant experience
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
- Experience performing QA/QC during structural steel fabrication
- Dependability, honesty, and integrity
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work well independently and with others
- Decision making skills
- Self-starter
- Willingness to travel as needed, including overnight stays when out of town
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver License
- Sufficient physical stamina to work long hours indoors and outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, extreme heat, cold, rainfall, and snow
- Climbing, bending, crawling, and working in confined spaces and on uneven terrain
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs
- Must pass a physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications include:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification
- NACE / AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification
- ASNT NDT Level II or level III Certification (VT, UT. MT, RT (film interpretation))
- ICC Bolting certification
