Licensure & Credentials
Qualifications
- Active, valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current First Aid certification from an approved agency (such as the American Red Cross).
Experience & Training
Must meet one of the following:
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in a program serving individuals with mental disabilities; OR
- Commitment to complete a minimum of 20 hours of regulatory on-the-job training within the first year of employment (this is in addition to standard annual training requirements).
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience with medication administration.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
The LVN / LPT provides direct client care including the administration of medications, including injections. Engages clients and families to determine physical health status. Formulates and implements an effective nursing care plan understanding psychiatric illness and its treatment as appropriate for Scope of Practice. Demonstrates an understanding of age-related development and other issues for the population(s).

- Comprehensive physical/psychological evaluations, mental health counseling, and case management.

- Life-skills and interpersonal training, paired with dedicated assistance for locating permanent housing.
