Overview
The On-Call Patient Care Assistant provides personal care, comfort measures and environmental services to clients, including those needing special precautions. This role requires demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and adhering to departmental policies and procedures. The position also involves promoting a safe work environment and collaborating with the Private Duty team to maintain high-quality client care.
What You Will Do
- Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of necessary resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) for positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, stocking supplies, and placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Demonstrates competence in following the plan of care to ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, and respecting patients' values.
- Provides care consistent with verbal and/or written instructions, and accurately completes required documentation.
- Participates in training and support of team members, volunteers, and students as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Program Graduate from a Personal Care Aide Training Program approved by the VA Department of Health/DMAS (Required), or Program Graduate from a Nurse Aide Training Program approved by the VA Board of Nursing (Preferred).
- Experience: Prior work experience in a home care setting (Preferred).
- Licenses and Certifications: CPR/BLS Certification from AHA/ARC within 30 days (Required).
- Other: Valid Drivers License required to drive personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time.
