On-Call Nurse Clinician I
Position Summary
This is a temporary or on-call position. Provides direct nursing care, counseling and instruction to patients in a health care clinic.
About the Role
The Sexual Assault Healthcare Program provides timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault patients. This includes a medical forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate resources, medical follow-up, support, and participation in legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care to sexual assault patients
- Conducts medical forensic exams
- Administers prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
- Documents findings through photographic means
- Refers patients to appropriate resources
- Makes medical follow-up appointments
- Supports patients during their recovery process
- Participates in legal proceedings as needed
Requirements
- Licensed and practicing Registered Nurse in the state of MI with at least two years' experience as a Registered Nurse
- Previously worked as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan
- Completed 40 hour didactic Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training
Qualifications
- Knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree in Nursing
- At least two years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Nursing
- Completion of 40 hour didactic Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training
- Previous work as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
Skills
- Excellent clinical assessment skills
- Initiative, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and good judgment
- Ability to work collaboratively with other clinicians and victim service responders
