On Call Medical/Legal Advocate

About the role

Provides crisis intervention, information, referrals, and advocacy for sexual assault survivors, supporting them through medical and legal processes.

Responsibilities

• Offers emotional and technical support to survivors and their significant others.
• Advocates within medical and law enforcement institutions.
• Documents all contacts and develops advocacy training materials.
• Responds to crisis situations 12-24 hours daily.
• Acts as liaison with law enforcement.
• Participates in staff meetings and training.
• Serves on task forces and compiles monthly statistics.
• Ensures timely handling of medical paperwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; social services experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sexual assault issues.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle stress and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Willingness to be on-call, travel, and complete required training.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance are necessary.
