On Call Licensed Vocational Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
• Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes, and directs the nursing activities of the unit, assuring quality care delivery.
• Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders.
• Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
• Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
• Maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.

Requirements

• A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
• Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.
• One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
• One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting.
• High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
• Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.

Licensure

A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required. Certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment. One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
