On Call, Forensic Technician

This position is located at the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office in Orlando, Florida.

Responsibilities
- Assists in the receiving, fingerprinting and dissection of deceased persons being brought to the Medical Examiner's Office.
- Inventories or confirms inventory of personal property, medications, and clothing.
- Assists in the collection and preservation for submission of tissues for histological examination and body fluids and tissues for toxicological examination.
- Takes and develops x-rays.
- Assists in the collection and preservation of trace evidence.
- Assists in photographing, accounting, storing, and releasing of evidence to authorized personnel.
- Coordinates with funeral homes for proper authorizations and arranges for pick-up of deceased persons.
- Clean and prepare the morgue and deceased persons after the examination for storage and release.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in Forensic Science, Biological Science, Health Science, Mortuary Science, Criminal Justice, or closely related field; or two years of experience as an autopsy or forensic technician/assistant or two years of experience in a closely related field.
Preferences: Forensic/autopsy experience in a medical examiner/coroner office.
