Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional food and beverage service for banquet events, meetings, receptions, breaks, plated meals, buffets, and special functions.
- Review banquet event orders, service standards, menu items, timing, table assignments, and event details before each function.
- Set tables, place settings, linens, glassware, silverware, condiments, water, bread, and other event items according to banquet standards.
- Serve plated meals, buffets, receptions, coffee breaks, beverages, and other food and beverage items as assigned.
- Maintain tables throughout service by clearing dishes, refilling beverages, replacing utensils, and responding to guest requests.
- Aid with event setup, room refreshes, service stations, buffet maintenance, and breakdown as needed.
- Deliver courteous, prompt, and attentive service to guests, clients, meeting planners, and hotel colleagues.
- Communicate guest needs, dietary restrictions, service issues, or event changes to banquet leadership.
- Work closely with banquet captains, banquet housepersons, culinary, stewarding, events, audio-visual, and hotel operations teams.
- Follow all banquet service procedures, hotel standards, food handling requirements, safety guidelines, and sanitation practices.
- Support responsible alcohol service standards when serving alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of banquet areas, service stations, back-of-house areas, and equipment.
- Absorb and transport trays, food, beverages, dishes, glassware, linen, and service supplies.
- Perform opening, closing, side work, and post-event duties as assigned.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
- Perform other banquet service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous banquet, restaurant, catering, hotel, food and beverage, or guest service experience preferred.
- Strong guest service skills and a professional hospitality presence.
- Ability to work on an on-call basis based on business needs, event schedules, and hotel occupancy.
- Flexible availability required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night events.
- Ability to read and follow banquet event orders, service instructions, table assignments, and event timelines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to stay organized, calm, and service-focused during high-volume events.
- Knowledge of banquet service, plated service, buffet service, reception service, and beverage service preferred.
- Food handler certification or ability to obtain required certification, if applicable.
- Responsible alcohol service certification or ability to obtain required certification, if applicable.
- Must be dependable, punctual, polished, and professional.
