On-Call Banquet Bartender

About the role

Prepare and serve beverages—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—for guests during banquet and catering functions.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet bar including all liquor, mixes, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies; inventory unused liquor and beverages.
• Perform pre- and post-shift sidework (set-up cart, empty ice-bins, secure liquor, etc.).
• Prepare and serve beverages promptly and professionally, adhering to responsible alcohol service standards.
• Greet guests warmly, promote house drinks, and utilize up-selling skills to maximize sales.
• Follow established pouring standards and drink recipes to ensure consistency and control costs.
• Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption; check IDs when age is questionable.
• Ensure security of liquor, supplies, and financial transactions; replenish supplies efficiently to minimize waste.
• Complete required paperwork, such as consumption reports and incident reports.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Specialized knowledge of bartending, drink mixing, liquor brands, beer, wine, glassware, and garnishes.
• Formal bartending training preferred.
• Must meet state legal age requirements and speak fluent English.
• Ability to carry or lift up to 50 pounds, move about the bar/lounge/kitchen, bend, stoop, and kneel.
• Strong communication skills for guest and team interactions.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit as required by local/state law.
• May require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
