About the Role
This is a temporary or on-call position providing professional support in athletic training and sports medicine. Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and must terminate for three (3) months after the second term or switch to an on-call status. On-call employees are allowed to work up to 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Responsibilities
- Provide sideline and training room game coverage at various high school sporting events to address acute injuries.
- Deliver preventative care services, education, and instruction on injury prevention, including stretching, strengthening, and healthy eating.
- Assist athletes in improving sports performance levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification.
- Field ATC and Sports Medicine Clinic experience (desired).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Exposure to human blood, serum, and other bodily fluids, as well as materials covered under Universal Precautions.
- Risk of TB exposure or work within three (3) feet of patients in a healthcare setting; may require wearing a respirator.
- Significant physical effort, including frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift moderate weights and quickly move around the field to assess and treat injuries, often in demanding weather conditions.
- Good mobility and agility are crucial for this role.
