On-Call Archaeologist

Responsibilities

• Identify and record areas of archeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
• Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
• Collect field data.
• Conduct field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type).
• Assist in archaeological impact assessments.
• Participate in excavations.
• Monitor construction projects.

Requirements

• Interest in Cultural Resource Management.
• Dedication to following and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Able to travel and work away from home.
• A valid California driver’s license is required.

Credentials

• A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology is required and minimum 1-year related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience preferred.
• Participation in an archaeological field school is seen as an asset.
• Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
• Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer software relevant to the field.

Pay Range: $52,500.00 - $76,100.00 Annually
Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas
Pay Range: $57,800.00 - $83,700.00 Annually
Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas
Pay Range: $66,200.00 - $95,900.00 Annually
Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)
