About the role

Oliver Wyman’s Actuarial Consulting Practice advises clients across risk management issues, with a rapidly growing global footprint. Our actuaries—recognized experts in their fields—combine mathematical and statistical modeling with qualitative assessment to help clients evaluate and address risk, preparing them for the financial consequences of uncertain future events. Within the Life Actuarial Practice, we partner with organizations to manage insurance risks using advanced actuarial and modeling techniques across more than a dozen offices worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop financial models for mergers, acquisitions, internal and external reinsurance, and other capital markets transactions with minimal oversight
  • Conduct actuarial due diligence, including review of actuarial appraisals, product features, experience studies/assumptions, and asset portfolios; translate complex datasets into clear narratives and recommendations
  • Create executive-level management reports and data visualizations
  • Present findings to senior management and C-suite executives
  • Build industry relationships through participation in deals, conferences, and events
  • Support client sales meetings and proposal development
  • Collaborate with management consulting and actuarial practices in the US and globally
  • Serve as a trusted resource for clients and junior staff on product- and technical-related actuarial questions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial consulting or insurance; FSA preferred
  • Prior life insurance M&A and pricing experience required
  • Experience developing actuarial pricing models, profitability projections, and data flow management
  • Strong background in risk management, sensitivity analysis, and regulatory compliance testing
  • Proven experience across the product development lifecycle and inforce policy management
  • Familiarity with profitability measure calculations and development of sensitivity analyses for life insurance and annuity products
  • Broad exposure to life insurance, annuity, and/or long-term care; subject matter expertise in at least one area such as product development, valuation, financial reporting, or risk management
  • Ability to lead and manage projects, including effective delegation and client solution development
  • Exposure to multiple accounting regimes (e.g., US NAIC, Bermuda EBS, US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II)
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, pricing, and valuation with a focus on base-case profitability and stress analysis
  • Capacity to deliver against tight deadlines in fast-paced, demanding environments
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Evidence of intellectual curiosity, strategic and creative thinking, self-motivation, and an entrepreneurial attitude
  • Strong communication skills

Pay

The base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $195,000. Base pay is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and applicable minimum wage requirements, evaluated on a case-by-case basis. In addition, this position is eligible for meaningful performance-based incentives.
