Responsibilities
- Utilize a quality customer service orientation to receive payment from customers for parking services and facilitate the flow of traffic through the gate.
- Be at work every scheduled day, on time and in uniform.
- Count “bank” of revenue at the beginning of shift to ensure starting total is correct.
- Collect cash and/or validations and maintain security of cash.
- Make change and issue receipts or tickets to customers for each transaction.
- Compute or recompute bills from tickets showing amount due per customer.
- Operate cash register, calculate cost of transactions, and display cost to customers.
- Quote prices for parking services.
- Give directions to customers to various locations in the city.
- Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
- Resolve customer complaints independently or with the aid of a supervisor.
- Answer telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area.
- Conduct timely checks to ensure proper inventory of necessary work aids and supplies are in the booth.
- Verify log of shift transactions against bank of “revenue” on hand.
- Compile “bank” of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount of money has been collected.
- Record amounts received, cars in/out of facility, and cars left in facility (if applicable) while preparing shift report of transactions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Previous parking and cashiering experience highly desired.
- Driving required; ability to drive manual transmission a plus.
- Must be alert and able to handle multiple parkers simultaneously.
- Clean driving record to pass MVR check necessary.
- Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to make change.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to use clock (standard/military time), calculator (optional), or credit card machine to handle transactions.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking on the telephone and with the public.
- Ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints.

- Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Availability to work special shift requirements, if any, depending on location's hiring needs (e.g., 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends).

Pay
$18.00/hour. This role is eligible to earn tips in addition to the posted hourly rate.
