Ohio Career Technical Education Specialist
About the role
ACCEL Schools is seeking a Career Technical Education Specialist to support Ohio brick-and-mortar schools with implementation and growth of Career Tech Education and Career-Based Intervention (CBI) programs.
Responsibilities
- Support and assist Ohio brick-and-mortar schools with implementation and growth of Career Technical Education Pathways and Career-Based Intervention (CBI) programs.
- Collaborate with the National CTE Team, school leaders, counselors, and teachers to support program success and student outcomes.
- Provide guidance on Ohio CBI requirements, documentation, and compliance expectations.
- Aid in planning for school transition from Career-Based Intervention (CBI) programs into aligned CTE pathways.
- Aid schools with work-based learning implementation, student placements, tracking, and best practices.
- Support schools in identifying and utilizing appropriate curriculum resources, intervention supports, and employability skill development activities.
- Help schools develop meaningful partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to expand career readiness opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with school leaders to identify and implement industry-recognized credentials aligned to student interests, career pathways, and CBI program needs.
- Support the creation, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of CTE and CBI advisory councils and relationships with school CTPD organizations.
- Maintain knowledge of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), with an emphasis on middle school engagement and implementation opportunities.
Collaboration & Training
- Serve as a support contact for Ohio schools regarding CTE and CBI programming and implementation needs.
- Work alongside the National CTE Team to provide training and professional development for CBI teachers and school staff.
- Support communication and collaboration between schools and the National CTE Team to ensure consistent implementation and support.
- Aid in identifying program needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement across schools.
Compliance & Reporting Support
- Support schools with maintaining accurate documentation related to CTE and CBI programming and work-based learning activities.
- Aid in monitoring program participation and identifying areas needing additional support or follow-up.
- Stay current on Ohio CTE and CBI requirements, workforce readiness initiatives, and related educational updates.
Qualifications
- Ohio residency required with the ability to travel
- Valid Ohio teaching license required
- Career-Based Intervention (CBI) endorsement required or ability to obtain endorsement
- Bachelor’s degree in education, career and technical education, intervention specialist education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with at-risk, career-focused, or alternative education student populations preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with multiple schools and support a variety of program models
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Ohio CTE and CBI requirements and work-based learning expectations
- Experience supporting student career readiness, employability skills, and intervention strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with school staff, businesses, and community organizations
- Experience working within educational networks or multi-school systems preferred
- Experience or comfortability with virtual workplace environments preferred

About the Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
