About the role

Latham & Watkins is one of the world’s leading global law firms, advising businesses and institutions that drive the global economy. The OGC Analyst – Conflicts Reporting is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team and will be responsible for preparing and analyzing standard conflicts reports regarding incoming attorneys and new client business, while analyzing standard new business and lateral conflicts checks such as advisory, NDAs, transactional checks, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with attorneys and staff regarding conflict check results, any missing information from the request form, and validating the requirements for the conflicts check with the attorney or secretary requesting the report
  • Updating data in the conflicts databases as necessary and conducting corporate research using internal and external information resources to confirm the accuracy of the information
  • Obtaining the necessary guidance from attorneys or other Conflicts staff with understanding the requirements to properly evaluate the conflicts check (lateral candidate, potential client, potential adverse party, etc.)
  • Conducting research regarding corporate entities that are subject to conflicts review using a variety of electronic databases, the Internet, and print sources
  • Analyzing and replying to attorneys’ responses concerning any potential or actual conflict
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to perceive and analyze problems, and develop alternative strategies to solve them
  • Possess well-developed, professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively interface with attorneys, management, support staff, and outside contacts
  • Demonstrate the organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
