Offshore Service Technician- Wind Power Industry

About the Role

A position focused on the service, maintenance, and repair of Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive Wind Turbines. The role emphasizes delivering world-class service, achieving a high First Time Fix Rate, and maximizing turbine availability. Initial training may require up to 80% travel to various wind farms and training centers. Once the Coastal Virginia Commercial Project (176 x SG14-222 Direct Drive turbines) enters its operational phase, the role will transition to an offshore shift pattern, such as 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

Responsibilities

• Perform offshore service, maintenance, and troubleshooting on wind turbines.
• Demonstrate active safety leadership onshore, on board the Service Operations Vessel (SOV), in the turbine, and across the wind farm, ensuring accurate reporting of incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Work safely and effectively in a team of at least two people.
• Adapt to a flexible work schedule and analyze/resolve issues independently.
• Ensure compliance with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) standards and U.S. legislation regarding Environment, Health, Safety (EHS), Quality, and Service delivery.

Requirements

• Strong initiative and motivation to learn new technology and apply it to personal and professional success.
• Relevant work experience, preferably in the wind industry, or demonstrated knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or maintenance/troubleshooting from military, industrial, or automotive sectors.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; electrical and/or mechanical education preferred but not essential.
• Open to candidates nearing completion of technical degrees or certifications.
• Physically and mentally capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less, as mandated by safety regulations.
• Must pass a physical examination administered by a medical practitioner to confirm ability to safely perform job functions.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization (current Siemens Energy employees with visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers).
