About the role
Total Safety is seeking an Offshore H2S Technician to join their safety-conscious team. The role operates and maintains gas detection systems and breathing air safety equipment on offshore drilling rigs or production platforms where there is a potential for or anticipated release of H2S.
Essential Duties
- Willing to work offshore for up to 28 days
- Assists in rigging up gas detection systems
- Assists in operating and maintaining gas detection systems and breathing air safety equipment
- Calibrates gas detection systems
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checks on equipment
- Fit tests customer personnel
- Works safely and follows all Total Safety and customer policies and procedures
- Completes all required Total Safety and customer documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintains and ensures operability of electric and diesel air compressors
- Maintains air quality checks
- Performs scheduled maintenance including air purification cartridge changes, oil changes, and other filter changes
- Stocks shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment
- Pulls, stages, and loads equipment for jobs
- Maintains work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition
- Maintains equipment cleanliness and sanitizes respirator masks
- Maintains running inventory of safety equipment
- Performs basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer
- Affords assistance to others as needed
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred as H2S Tech or related field
- Experience working offshore preferred, but not required
- Ability to obtain T-HUET, SAFE GULF, or SAFE LAND, RigPass, confined space entry, and rigging training certifications (internal training provided)
- First aid responder training preferred
- Knowledge of 30 CFR MMS and Coast Guard regulations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Adaptable communication style to suit different audiences
Education Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required.
