About the Role

The Officer – Emergency Response Team provides a high-visibility uniformed presence in and around the property. This role involves attending briefings, using data-driven information to reduce incidents, and sharing incident information with Officers and Management to prevent disruptions, injuries, and prohibited conduct. The position responds to emergency situations, takes steps to prevent or solve problems, and minimizes company liability. Enhanced training in tactical-response protocols and firearms is provided. Collaboration with existing Security Officers is required.

While on duty, the Emergency Response Team Officer must wear all assigned uniform equipment, carry a department-issued firearm, wear a company-authorized ballistic vest, and use a Body-Worn Camera (BWC). This is a safety-related position, and all duties must align with departmental and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Change from department-issued uniform to plain clothes during a shift, if required, to work in a low-profile support role.
  • Act as a company ambassador, adhering to guest-service standards in all interactions.
  • Investigate suspicious or unusual behavior directed toward Guests, Team Members, or Property.
  • Respond in a tactical security role during significant incidents or crises, such as natural disasters, active shooters, protests, or other large-scale events.
  • Expedite deconfliction of potential threats, evaluate crisis or life-threatening situations, and act based on available information and analysis.
  • Execute emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed.
  • Prepare suspicious activity reports and/or security incident reports.
  • Exercise discretion and demonstrate good judgment based on available information.
  • Direct others for their protection and self-preservation.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed and reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Comply with regulatory standards, laws, and requirements of relevant agencies.
  • Attend and pass additional training beyond standard Security Officer requirements, including firearms training, use of Simunitions, reality-based training, and simulator training. Some training may require off-site travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in civilian or military law enforcement, casino/hotel security, or industrial security.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, at the Team Member’s expense, a valid Nevada Driver’s License, Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration, Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM Card), Nevada-recognized Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit, and any other certification or license required by law or policy.
  • Must meet the Department’s firearm qualifications and training standards.
  • Knowledge of general first aid and CPR.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
  • Excellent English proficiency (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, investigate incidents, interview witnesses, and draft legible and factual reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and outside contacts of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Ability to work well with others and establish peace in high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to travel to/from off-site training locations.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Requirements for Firearm Authorization

  • Pass a background check.
  • Pass a drug test.
  • Pass a psychological exam administered by a company-authorized vendor.
  • Attend and pass the department’s firearm academy.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or carry 46 lbs., push/pull 100 ft/lbs. unassisted, over a distance of approximately 1,713 ft.
  • Administer CPR.
  • Physically access all areas of the property, including drive areas and the ability to climb stairs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent bending from the waist (5 times per minute), squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead, lying down, crawling, knee standing, pushing, and pulling for approximately 33% of the workday.
  • Climb in and out of a company vehicle.
  • Stand and/or walk for up to 2 hours at a time and for approximately 4 to 6 hours in a workday.
  • Sit for up to 4 hours at a time and for approximately 4 hours in a workday.
  • Drive a truck for up to 60 minutes at a time and for approximately 3 hours in a workday.
  • Maintain composure under pressure while upholding a high level of guest service.
  • Interact appropriately and effectively with Guests, Management, Team Members, and outside contacts.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to environmental factors such as CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
  • Touch and handle supplies safely, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
