Office Operations Assistant

Your role is essential to our daily success and may include answering calls into the state agency. You will be the engine that keeps us moving, responsible for sorting and filing documents, sorting and distributing mail, receiving calls for staff or inmates, conveying information, taking messages and routine data entry. Responsibilities

• Answering calls into the state agency.
• Sorting and filing documents.
• Sorting and distributing mail.
• Receiving calls for staff or inmates.
• Conveying information.
• Taking messages.
• Routine data entry.
• Performing other work as related to the position.
• Working and/or giving breaks at the switchboard.
• Will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.

Pay

• Pay grade: 5; salary range: $27,240 – $45,973.
• Market rate: $41,124.
• Minimum special hiring rate: $32,240.
• Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility: an additional $5,000 added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (effective 10/7/23 per SPB 3088). Facilities include: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center).
• Employees in this classification receive an annual base building pay differential of $250 after completing one year of service; if hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility and later leave, the $5,000 differential is removed unless transferring to another CVPF.
