About the role
The Office Assistant provides visionary leadership in providing high-quality, student-centered customer care that supports student well-being and success. They serve as the first point of contact for Health Services, greeting and checking in patients, obtaining and updating medical information, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in person and by phone
- Answer inquiries and refer questions appropriately
- Place patients on the dashboard and verify completion of forms and collect health insurance information
- Support Health Insurance Program by providing details on plan benefits, pricing, and waiver instructions
- Maintain provider lists and assist with referrals under the student plan
- Communicate referral details and assist with related questions
- Verify insurance in PyraMed, scan cards, confirm coverage
- Scan insurance checks into PyraMed and deposit into back
- Aid uninsured students by monitoring compliance
- Handle mail, medical record requests, and billing tasks
- Support departmental initiatives such as events, social media posts, and tabling
- Represent the Division of Student Affairs on university-wide committees, task forces, and professional organizations
- Support divisional events, projects, and special initiatives as needed
- Respond to campus crisis as essential personnel, as designated by the Dean of Students
Requirements
This role requires a high school (or GED) level ability in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and math, along with 1-3 years of administrative experience.
