Offensive Security Analyst (Structured / Non-Exploit)
About the role
What if your hard‑won knowledge of how real attacks unfold could directly shape how AI understands cyber threats? We're looking for Offensive Security Analysts to bring adversarial thinking to the frontier of AI development — analyzing attack paths, modeling threat behavior, and helping build AI systems that truly understand how modern environments get compromised. This role focuses on structured adversarial reasoning, not exploit development. You’ll work with realistic attack scenarios to map how threats move through systems, where defenses break down, and how risk cascades across complex environments. No CVE writing. No live exploitation. Just deep, clear security thinking applied to one of the most important technology challenges of our time.
Organization: Alignerr | Type: Hourly Contract | Location: Remote | Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Responsibilities
- Analyze attack paths, kill chains, and adversary tactics across realistic, production‑style environments.
- Identify and classify weaknesses, misconfigurations, and defensive gaps with precision.
- Review and evaluate red‑team scenarios, intrusion narratives, and adversarial reasoning chains.
- Generate, label, and validate adversarial reasoning data used to train and evaluate cutting‑edge AI systems.
- Clearly articulate how attacks unfold, what impact they carry, and what trade‑offs defenders face.
- Work independently and asynchronously on task‑based assignments — fully on your own schedule.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in pentesting, red teaming, or a blue‑team role with strong offensive knowledge.
- Demonstrated understanding of how real attacks unfold in production environments, not just in theory.
- Ability to break down complex attack chains and explain them clearly from initial access to impact.
- Analytical mindset: think in systems, spot gaps, and model risk intuitively.
- Strong written communication skills; able to document findings with clarity and structure.
- Comfortable working independently without constant oversight.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, or D3FEND.
- Experience writing red‑team reports, threat assessments, or adversary simulation plans.
- Background in threat intelligence, purple teaming, or security architecture review.
- Prior work involving AI, data labeling, or structured annotation.
Benefits
- Work directly on frontier AI systems alongside leading AI research labs.
- Fully remote and flexible – work when and where it suits you.
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task‑based work.
- Apply offensive security expertise to a domain that genuinely needs it.
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch.
Schedule
Remote, flexible schedule with a commitment of 10–40 hours per week.
