Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Load offal and feather trailers to achieve greater than 40,000 lbs per trailer.
- Pump each tank to maintain less than 3% blood content.
- Drain trailers properly to maintain less than 2% free water.
- Maintain operation of system equipment during assigned shifts.
- Clean and wash Offal and Wastewater areas to maintain sanitation standards.
- Work safely with cleaning chemicals and wastewater treatment chemicals.
- Assist wastewater operator in maintaining proper effluent compliance.
- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Maintain daily paperwork and documentation.
- Clock with rendering contractor to schedule loads when needed.
- Operate jockey truck and over-the-road tractor.
- Follow all safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment, reporting unsafe conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management protocols.
- Notify Lead Operator or Environmental Manager of mechanical, electrical, operational, environmental, or safety concerns.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Work in temperatures ranging from below 32°F to above 75°F.
- Work in wet, greasy, and damp environments.
- Exposure to chlorinated water, caustic detergents, and lubricating oils.
- Exposure to noise levels between 90–94.9 dB.
- Use tools such as knives, scissors, clippers, sharpening steel, shovels, and mechanic hand tools.
- Operate equipment includes welders, cutting torches, grinders, power jacks, forklifts, and trucks/tractors.
- Wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, hardhat, apron, lab coat, and face shield.
- Walk and stand for extended periods, including walking distances greater than 100 feet continuously.
- Lift up to 40–60 lbs repeatedly from floor level to 2–3 feet.
- Perform bending, twisting, and grasping motions frequently.
