About the role
Fulltime, benefits eligible role. Mon - Fri, days. Travel required 50%-70% within Ohio. Same day travel with minimal overnight stays required.
Responsibilities
- Conducts regular safety inspections of the facilities and safety equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Oversees general safety programs, collects and analyzes statistical data on safety, and ensures accurate documentation is maintained.
- Coordinates and conducts staff and volunteer training on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Advises staff on safety compliance and assists with any questions or issues. Escalates violations and non-compliance to appropriate leadership.
- Coordinates the performance of fire, abduction and tornado drills for main campus and off-site locations.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Healthcare Safety, Environmental Safety, Fire Science, related field, equivalent professional experience in lieu of a formal degree, required.
- Four years of experience in healthcare safety or related field, required.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Certifications
- Certificate in fire-fighting methodology within one year of hire, required.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 Hour Outreach Training Program certification within one year of hire, required.
- HAZWOPER 24 Hour Initial Training certification within one year of hire, required.
- Certification in Hazardous Material Handling and related USDOT regulations within one year of hire, required.
Skills
- Working knowledge of Ohio buildings codes, Joint Commission, OSHA, and the Ohio Fire Code.
- Working knowledge of ergonomics and body mechanics.
- Working knowledge of disaster response protocols.
