Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior leader on-site during the second shift, providing leadership and direction for all plant operations.
- Oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other support functions during off-shift hours.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
- Ensure production schedules, customer commitments, and operational goals are achieved while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Make real-time decisions to address operational challenges, staffing issues, equipment downtime, quality concerns, and customer-critical situations.
- Act as the primary escalation point for all site-related issues during the second shift.
- Drive communication and collaboration across departments to ensure seamless execution of operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and corrective action.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to ensure labor resources are effectively utilized to meet business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GMP requirements, safety procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and resolution of employee relations concerns as needed.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, coaching employees and removing barriers to success.
- Facilitate effective shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of operations.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or operations environment.
- Experience leading multiple teams or departments within a fast-paced operation.
- Experience managing production schedules, staffing challenges, and operational priorities.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, workforce management, and production processes.
- Experience driving results through safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions and effectively resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coaching, developing, and holding employees accountable for performance.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the absence of senior site leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience in the Printing, Packaging, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, or Consumer Products industries.
- Experience leading larger manufacturing teams or multiple functional areas.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Continuous Improvement certification.
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and quality management systems.
- Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
- Experience leading change management initiatives and driving operational excellence.
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance operational priorities with customer expectations.
- Proven track record of developing employees and building high-performing teams.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
