Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and calling for repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
- Takes actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
- Prepares work by studying and clarifying instructions and diagrams, calculating requirements, and gathering supplies.
- Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positions, or moves loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Safely moves dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using articulated dump trucks.
- Accomplishes operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Performs tasks involving physical labor at construction sites and assists other workers.
- Operates hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
- Controls traffic passing near, in, or around work zones (with appropriate training provided).
- Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials (with appropriate training provided).
- Digs ditches or trenches, backfills excavations, or compacts and levels earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
- Cleans or prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Erects scaffolding and cleans up rubble and other waste materials.
- Loads, unloads, or identifies building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in construction.
- Job knowledge and ability to attain certifications as required.
- Fit for duty.
