OE2 Boiler Plant Operator

Responsibilities

• Performs diversified duties to operate boilers and auxiliary equipment to control the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating the hospital and outlying buildings and to fulfill the requirements of various departments.
• Works with other trades assigned to perform work at the boiler house.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: Minimum five years trade experience.
• Licenses: Must possess a State of Connecticut Operating Engineers OE2 License.
• Skills: Ability to read blueprints and specifications; familiarity with all plant operation guidelines, codes; demonstrated knowledge of position to train and direct staff; demonstrated communication abilities (oral and written).
• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; vision requirements include distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus; must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, feel, reach with hands & arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell; must be able to withstand exposure to outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), high precarious places, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation exposure, bloodborne pathogens, flammable, explosive gases, toxic or caustic chemicals, dust or other irritants, grease or oils, infection from disease-bearing specimens, infectious/contagious diseases, cleaning agents/chemicals, hot or noisy equipment, humid or wet conditions (non-weather).
