OD Grinder

About the Role

The OD Grinder will produce premium quality, high-precision carbide cutting tools using specific tool grinding machines and programs. This role involves facilitating and operating CNC machines by programming, setup, operation, and inspection to ensure consistent product quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust offsets as required.
• Accurately read and interpret blueprints.
• Inspect tools for defects using quality control tools.
• Perform accurate programming and machine operation.
• Evaluate the quality of finished products through visual inspection and measurement tools.
• Communicate quality issues to programmers and/or the General Manager.
• Perform daily machinery checks to ensure functionality.
• Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Certification from a qualified training institution in machining is ideal but not required.
• Well-rounded knowledge of cutters, inserts, and feeds/speeds is preferred but not required.
• Previous manufacturing or CNC Operator experience is preferred but not required.
• Programming experience is preferred but not required.

Skills

• Strong math skills, including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
