Responsibilities
- Optimize the functional abilities and skills of patients in communities by assisting in screening and providing input to initial evaluations.
- Implement treatment plans for all assigned patients, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines for accurate and timely billing and documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective interactions with patients, interdisciplinary teams, and other clientele, promoting patient-centered care.
- Provide direct supervision to rehab techs during group and individual treatments, enhancing resource utilization and quality of patient care.
- Participate in community patient care, utilization review, case management, administrative activities, and communications as directed by the OT.
- Contribute to the occupational therapy assistant program by actively integrating occupational therapy's role into community and interdisciplinary treatment plans.
- Maintain awareness of patient population, conditions, and programs, and communicate patient progress and community issues to the licensed or registered occupational therapist.
- Adhere to established community policies and procedures related to environmental safety, orderliness, risk management, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
- Maintain confidentiality of Reliant Rehabilitation, community, and patient information.
- Comply with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols within a community.
Qualifications
- Prior to beginning patient care, a peer OT may complete a Competency Checklist.
- Show effective clinical problem-solving skills, including identifying and prioritizing issues, developing action plans, executing them on time, and ensuring appropriate results.
- Be a strong team player and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Build strong relationships with a diverse population and understand the importance of clear communication.
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend in English to handle instructions, correspondence, charts, memos, and reports.
- Work in a fast-paced, productive work environment.
- Graduate from an ACOTE accredited school of occupational therapy.
