Occupational Therapy Assistant - ONGOING RECRUITMENT

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluation and treatment of children with physical disabilities.
• Absorb children with physical disabilities to and from wheelchairs and support children in occupational therapy activities.
• Implement intervention programs for children with physical disabilities, both individually and in small groups, as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Observe and evaluate child motor performance. Report observations to supervisor and other team members as an aid in the total evaluation and intervention planning.
• Maintain written records of frequency and duration of child activities and submit progress reports as directed by the supervising therapist.
• Design and fabricate adaptive equipment such as switching devices, splints and feeding equipment.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and records as specified by the supervising therapist.
• Absorb in the supervision of occupational therapy student teachers, volunteers, or peer tutors in the public school setting.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess Oregon license as a Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA).
• Must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle for transportation.
• Able to use power tools and equipment to construct adaptive equipment.
• Able to use power tools and equipment, sewing machines, saws, drills, and other woodworking equipment.
• Able to lift children with physical disabilities to and from wheelchairs and support children in occupational therapy activities.
