Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

About the role

Clinton Manor Living Center supports each person in living a meaningful and satisfying life through long-term care with skilled nursing for seniors and individuals with high medical needs. A team of RN’s, LPN’s, and Certified Nurse Assistants assist residents recuperating from surgery, stroke, or illness, and we also specialize in assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals provide hands-on, person-centered care for individuals with developmental disabilities who reside at the facility. We are expanding our therapy department and seeking Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to support residents in a skilled nursing facility improve their function and independence in daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans and functional goals for residents.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve strength, range of motion, coordination, and activities-of-daily-living performance.
• Assist residents with self-care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming as part of skilled therapeutic training.
• Collect and report data on resident response to treatment to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team regarding therapy progress.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of therapy services in accordance with facility and payer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities required to maintain certification/licensure.

Education, Certification & Licensure Requirements

• Associate degree from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Successful completion of the NBCOT certification examination for OTAs.
• Current, unrestricted state licensure/certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

Experience & Preferred Skills

• Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred, but not required for new graduates.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow treatment protocols established by the supervising OT.

1 PT position: 16–24 hours per week. 1 PRN position: fill in as needed.
