Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates patients' needs and administers therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function.
- Behaviors management skills, social skills, distress tolerance, medication adherence, sensory self-regulation and activities of daily living.
- Coordinates program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.
- Performs occupational assessments of patients and/or residents; refers patients requiring further evaluation or treatment to a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, therapist, physician, psychiatrist or other health care professional.
- Develops and implements treatment plans to help clients mobilize inner capacities and resources to improve social functioning.
- Documents client/patient progress and revises treatment plans as required; completes administrative paperwork.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Strong interpersonal boundaries and the ability to set these boundaries with clients.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in work related documents.
