About the role

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program at MCC-Penn Valley prepares students to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam. Classes are held at the MCC-Penn Valley Health Science Institute, including hands-on training in a 10,000 sq. ft. accredited healthcare simulation center.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of an occupational therapist, use meaningful activity to assist individuals in achieving independence in daily activities.
  • Work in various settings such as hospitals, schools, clinics, and community-based organizations.
  • Assist clients in developing and maintaining functional skills necessary for daily living.
  • Participate in clinical experiences to gain practical experience under supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of prerequisite courses or equivalent.
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
