About the Role

The Occupational Therapist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This role allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home—whether it’s a private residence or a room in an independent living facility. You’ll organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance while facilitating skills essential for adaptation and productivity.

This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care based on individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report the need for repair of supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
• Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine the predicted level of improvement and time required.
• Identify precautions/contraindications and design a plan of care in collaboration with the patient and caregivers.
• Implement the occupational therapy treatment plan and complete all related documentation and record-keeping.

• Demonstrate case management skills in the home and community space.
• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics, and train patients in their use.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
• Perform routine reexamination as needed to modify or progress the plan of treatment.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient’s residence.

Pay

USD $86,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, 32-40 hours per week.
