Occupational Therapist - Per Diem

Location: Fairport, NY 14450; Various Locations
Term: Per Diem Substitute for the 2026-2027 School Year
Starting Date: As Needs Present
Pay: $40 per hour

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, plan, program, and provide occupational therapy services for students with disabilities, ages 5 to 21 years old.
• Develop and implement IEP annual goals and objectives based on each student's needs or 504 accommodation plans.
• Deliver ongoing occupational therapy services within program assignment in collaboration with parents, teachers, other school professionals, and appropriate community agencies/services.
• Participate on school/building/program teams and in staffing, including interaction with Committees on Special Education.
• Provide thorough and timely reporting consistent with BOCES and Departmental procedures, as well as procedures of the program or district assignment.
• Implement various service delivery models: individual, small group, integrative classroom, RtI, etc.
• Establish and maintain a daily schedule.
• Establish and maintain professional working relationships with school professionals, parents, students, and fellow colleagues within the OT/PT Department.
• Attend departmental and program assignment meetings.
• Prepare CSE packets as required by assignment.
• Comply with BOCES policies.
• Provide staff development for the OT/PT Department and/or clinical education of OT students, if needed.
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.
• Maintain licensure through ongoing professional education.
• Complete daily documentation that complies with NYSED and Medicaid requirements.

Requirements

• Civil Service eligibility as an Occupational Therapist:
  • Possession of a valid license and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapist; OR
  • Possession of a Limited Permit to practice Occupational Therapy issued by the New York State Education Department.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Experience with Special and General Education populations preferred.
• Experience and/or training within sensory integration and neurodevelopment approaches preferred.
• Experience and/or knowledge of assistive technology equipment.
• Knowledge of or willingness to be trained in NY Medicaid Guidelines.
• National Provider Number (NPI) or willingness to obtain one.
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
