About the role
The Per Diem Occupational Therapist is sought after for their ability to assess patients' strengths and weaknesses, devise effective treatment plans, and maintain patient confidentiality. They must create a high-energy, positive-thinking environment and offer patients positive encouragement to achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Utilize training and skills to aid patients in healing, recovering, improving pain level/tolerance, and maximizing functional independence.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations, assessments, and interventions for patients with post-surgical and non-surgical Upper Extremity diagnoses.
- Fabricate custom orthoses for patients with various orthopedic upper extremity diagnoses.
- Collect and record patient care data following department policies and standards.
- Prepare for evaluations according to department policies and procedures, including obtaining patient history and researching unfamiliar diagnoses.
- Select and administer tests and measures, synthesize evaluation results to formulate diagnosis, goals, prognosis, and plan of care.
- Establish and modify treatment plans based on evaluation results, goals, and best practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and patient's support system.
- Identify and refer patients to additional health care professionals or services as needed.
- Develop and execute discharge plans.
- Provide education and training to patients and/or patient support systems on functional training and musculoskeletal interventions.
- Use Prompt EMR to document all treatments provided and attend annual JAG PT Billing and Coding seminars.
- Promote JAG PT in the community through lectures and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree required, Doctorate degree preferred.
- Licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred, but not required.
- Completed state regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ).
- Valid CPR License.
- Experience/knowledge with an EMR software is preferred.
- Excellent oral, written communication skills.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills.
- One year(s) of professional OT experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Maintains a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of Hand Therapy screens/evaluations, treatments, and orthosis fabrication.
