Occupational Therapist PD

About the role

The occupational therapist is part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to providing evidence-based interventions to acute rehabilitation patients. They collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop a comprehensive plan of care to prepare patients for a successful discharge. The role involves working with a variety of patient neurological diagnoses as well as patients post multi-trauma and amputation. Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and other aspects of performance in a variety of contexts to support engagement in everyday life activities that affect health, well-being, and quality of life. The occupational therapist educates and prepares patients, families, and caregivers for continued care after discharge. They may also be involved in consultative services within the organization and in the community. The occupational therapist demonstrates dedication to professional growth, development, and the continuous improvement of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive plans of care for acute rehabilitation patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient progress toward discharge.
• Address physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and other performance aspects to enhance engagement in daily life activities.
• Educate and prepare patients, families, and caregivers for post-discharge care.
• Provide consultative services within the organization and the community as needed.

Education

• Bachelor’s of Science or higher degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Licensure

• Licensed or eligible to practice occupational therapy in the State of Vermont.

Experience

• Site-specific experience required.
