Occupational Therapist - Home Health Care – Northern Oakland County - Pay Per Visit

About the Role

Under general supervision of the therapy supervisor, implements treatment programs and organizes and conducts a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help clients regain physical or mental functioning and/or adjust to their handicaps.

Henry Ford Home Health Care is a comprehensive network of home health products and services focusing on the complex needs of patients and caregivers. Available programs include chronic care management, joint replacement care, specialty infusion and transplant care, wound, ostomy and continence nursing, and palliative care.

Services are provided by qualified registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified wound, ostomy and continence nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, medical social workers, dietitians, and home health aides.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment programs for clients.
• Organize and conduct sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities.
• Help clients regain physical or mental functioning and adjust to handicaps.
• Work in the client's home, an uncontrolled environment.
• Drive to and from clients' homes in varied weather and traffic conditions.

Requirements

• Four (4) year baccalaureate degree program accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Registration by the State of Michigan as an occupational therapist.
• Current State of Michigan driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
• One (1) year of clinical experience.
• Reliable transportation and a telephone.

Physical Demands

• May need to lift, carry, bend, stoop, or be otherwise physically active in the normal course of job duties.
• May be exposed to potentially infectious materials, bloodborne-disease pathogens, and hazardous waste.

Working Conditions

• Works in the client's home, which is an uncontrolled environment.
• Drives to and from clients' homes located in the Detroit Metropolitan area in varied weather and traffic conditions.
