About the role
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides diagnostic evaluations and implements treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities
- Design and administer therapy programs to enhance patients' functional abilities
- Instruct patients in adaptive techniques and equipment use
- Assist with environmental modifications and splint fabrication
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Participate in home assessments
- Provide therapy for neurological and traumatic brain injury patients
- Train patients and families in self-care, safety, and energy conservation
- Collaborate with team members in patient support groups
- Exercise independent decision-making and active listening
- Adhere to safety and confidentiality policies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Preferred one year of experience
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptive equipment tools
- Ability to interpret instructions and evaluate social situations
- Work independently with integrity and flexibility
