Job Summary
We are growing and seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team! As an Occupational Therapist, you will be meeting with several patients in a day, discussing their treatment needs and ultimate goals, and crafting customized, comprehensive therapy plans for them. You will also work closely with other clinicians of their health team to arrange follow-up care, help educate patients on lifestyle changes they may need, and provide a positive, affirming presence in their lives. The ideal candidate has a compassionate style of care, has strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is comfortable handling multiple different cases at a time.Responsibilities
- Assess client's conditions, medical histories, and home/work environments to determine rehabilitation needs
- Develop individualized, goal-oriented programs to improve fine motor skills, cognitive function, and daily activities
- Customize treatment to each client's current ability and goals
- Evaluate clients to ensure goals are being met
- Adjust treatment plans to reflect changes in ability
- Instruct on adaptive equipment by recommending and teaching clients how to use equipment
- Coach families and support to create home sensory diets
- Document all sessions accurately and timely
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Comply with legal and ethical guidelines in the counseling profession
- Communicate regularly with families regarding progress and goals
- Provide education, strategies, and resources for home carryover
- Respond to family questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with BCBAs, SWs, SLP, healthcare providers, educators, and other providers
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions
- Align therapy goals with interdisciplinary treatment plans
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- Licensed as an OT in the state of Illinois
- Experience: 0–2 years of clinical experience as an OT
- Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Comprehensive understanding of clinical social work practices, Knowledge of community resources and social services, Proficiency with data collection or health record systems, Ability to handle high stress situations calmly, Strong ethical standards and confidentiality practices, Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, Good organization and time management skills, Strong commitment to ongoing professional development
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a clinical or healthcare settings, Experience in a pediatric outpatient setting, Experience in multidisciplinary clinic settings, Experience in Feeding therapy, Reflex and sensory integration, Familiarity with culturally aligned or community-based programming, Experience with therapy documentation systems
