Provide occupational therapy services to address the functional needs of students, enabling them to succeed in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify the educationally relevant needs of an individual child.
• Based on evaluation results, recommend goals, activities, or supports for the Individual Education Program (IEP).
• Design treatment plans based on assessments, observations, and consultations.
• Implement occupational therapy services and monitor progress as outlined in the IEP.
• Deliver a continuum of services including indirect, consultative, direct, individual, and group therapy.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate therapeutic activities into the school day.
• Provide classroom and school-wide consultation to teachers and administrators regarding individual student needs.
• Work constructively and collaboratively with school personnel, parents, students, and outside agencies.
• Communicate effectively and disseminate information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Collect and summarize data to document student performance.
• Utilize technology required for professional practice including electronic mail, presentation applications, and data base management.
• Maintain accepted professional and ethical standards in assessment, consultation, and general professional practice.
• Comply with Medicaid regulations and billing procedures including maintaining accurate documentation, paperwork, and submitting paperwork within required timelines.
• Engage in professional growth activities including maintenance of continuing education units required for licensure and attendance/participation in mandatory district-sponsored professional development opportunities.
• Comply with professional expectations in the school environment including professional etiquette, appropriate dress, scheduled work hours, and completion of required paperwork/documentation.
• Participate in school functions such as staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Valid license as an Occupational Therapist by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.
• Experience in pediatrics.
• Knowledge of methods of assessment; systematic processes to collect data, translate assessment results into empirically based decisions about service delivery, and evaluate outcomes of services.
• Knowledge of learning processes, appropriate instructional interventions to meet students' needs, and the ability to implement and assess their effectiveness.
• Knowledge of the South Carolina Seed Document.
• Knowledge of behavioral mental health, collaborative and/or consultation models and methods and their application.
• Aptitude to learn new programs and to operate efficiently in a computerized environment.
