What You’ll Do

  • Provides treatment based on tested knowledge of therapy and treatments related to age specific requirements of neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of equipment utilized and demonstrates proper body mechanics in order to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Maintains and re-evaluates patients’ response to treatment demonstrating adaptability to varying functional status.
  • Demonstrates high level of professional competence in the delivery of services as demonstrated by the clinical outcomes.
  • Articulates with tact and diplomacy in all communications.
  • Provides teaching of patient, family, and staff according to level of learner using appropriate methods.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relations with patient and family, other members of treatment team, supervisor and administrative personnel.
  • Effectively progresses the treatment environment to functional setting to ensure carry over of learned skills.
  • Communicates written information that is organized, concise, accurate and appropriate to level of reader.
  • Communicates patient status in timely written/verbal communications to physicians and others. Provides treatment plan clearly to patient/family.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA requirements when accessing, discussing, or documenting protected health information.
  • Actively participates in department/programmatic meetings expressing concerns and ideas. Provides inter and intra departmental in-services as required/requested. Assesses own strength and weaknesses and assists in developing action plan to improve.

What We’re Looking For

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Valid KY OTA license.
  • BLS required through American Heart Association- renewals are included with TRH employment.

Job Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and assist patients with mobility and functional activities.
  • Ability to safely assist with patient transfers and repositioning.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate body mechanics and follow patient-handling safety procedures.
