About the role
This position provides direct services to support a recovery lifestyle of people living in the program. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy services to clients under the direction and supervision of a registered occupational therapist. These services include contribution to and participation in assessment, intervention, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Participate in evaluation and assessment using standardized measures, formal and informal tests and checklists, as appropriate.
- Implement therapeutic procedures for which the COTA is qualified, as designated by the supervising occupational therapist.
- Help collect data for Individualized Educational Plans or Individualized Treatment Plans.
- Maintain current records in accordance with school, state, and federal policy.
- Assist with establishing goals for clients.
- Assist with developing individual and group therapy activities.
- Disseminate established therapeutic programs to the educational and program staff.
Qualifications
- Must have completed an occupational therapy assistant educational program that is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association and have completed all fieldwork requirements.
- Must be certified by the Occupational Therapy Certification Board (OTCB) following successful completion of the national certification examination.
- Must be licensed if he/she works in a state that has licensure laws and must maintain certification requirements of the state department of public instruction.
