About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. This position provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care, including home visits, village travel, and frequent collaboration with medical providers.

Responsibilities

• Treats all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska’s occupational therapy scope of practice.
• Incorporates evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care.
• Exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity when rendering patient care.
• Modifies patient care plans appropriately, using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.
• May include some work at the local Long Term Care facility.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy
• Licensing/Certification: Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as an OT or have a good-standing license of Occupational Therapy in another state and awaiting licensure in Alaska. Must also hold a current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

• Current BLS.

Skills

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret occupational therapy periodicals and medical literature.
• Ability to compose patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, and administrative personnel.
• Ability to communicate effectively with members of a different culture who may or may not speak English.
