Occupational Health Nurse - RN

This position is responsible for performing regulatory testing, injury/illness care, worker’s compensation, and wellness education for employees within the nursing scope of practice, following client standards, policies, procedures, and treatment care guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed within the RN scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director.
  • Evaluates, treats, and manages occupational illnesses and injuries; refers cases to providers as needed.
  • Assists providers in managing, coordinating, and documenting Workers’ Compensation claims; communicates with the client’s WC claims carrier.
  • Maintains Electronic Medical Record (EMR - Cority) and ensures complete and accurate documentation.
  • Performs regulatory testing including respiratory medical evaluation, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine tests, EKG, immunizations, blood draws, stress tests, MicroFit, and heat stress.
  • Performs First Aid, CPR, AED, and other training as necessary.
  • Assists with outage scheduling; may be assigned to night shift or weekend work during outages.
  • Provides preventive health education to employees within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains clinic utilization reports (clinic encounters, first aid injuries, Workers’ Compensation claims, supply inventory, equipment calibration).
  • Participates in general clinic operations (answers phones, checks email, medical records, scheduling, filing, copying charts, traffic control).
  • Maintains clinic’s medical and office supplies in collaboration with ancillary staff.
  • Communicates with the Clinic Medical Director, Account Manager, Team Lead, and client as necessary.
  • Ensures employees have appropriate return-to-work clearances.
  • Coordinates employee exams and medical surveillance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by management.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid RN license in the state of California.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • NIOSH, CAOHC, DOT Drug, and Alcohol testing certification preferred if needed.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Proficient in basic office software applications.

  • Competent in Windows operating system, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn other software as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Requires sitting for long periods, working at a desk.
  • Some bending and stretching may be required.
  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
  • Manual dexterity required for computer keyboard use.
  • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Good air quality and controlled temperature.

Pay

This position has an hourly pay range of $57 - $62 per hour. Final compensation rate depends on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week; day shift.
