Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse
Location: Texas City, TX
The Position:
This position provides nursing practices that focus on the work environment, the worker, and the business context to promote health, prevent illness and injury, protect workers from risks associated with occupational health hazards, recommend placement of workers in jobs suited to their psychological and physical health status, and restore workers' health in a safe and healthy work environment.
What You Will Do
- Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to and championing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety, Life-Saving Rules, SHEQ policies, regulatory compliance (OSHA, ADA, FMLA), pandemic preparedness, and participation in incident management and safety initiatives.
- Provide comprehensive occupational health services, including evaluation, treatment, and case management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, return-to-work coordination, fitness-for-duty evaluations, emergency care procedures, and collaboration with physicians and leadership.
- Manage employee health surveillance and medical programs, including OSHA-required medical testing, physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, hearing conservation, respirator, bloodborne pathogen, immunization, wellness, and contractor medical oversight programs.
- Assess workplace health risks and support employee well-being through worksite evaluations, ergonomic assessments, employee counseling and EAP referrals, health consultations, CPR coordination, and collaboration with SHEQ and Industrial Hygiene teams.
- Maintain medical operations and compliance, including confidential medical records, department procedures and protocols, medical equipment calibration, supply management, regulatory documentation, and continuous review of occupational health programs.
- Support organizational and corporate health initiatives by serving as a resource to leadership, implementing corporate health programs, maintaining professional certifications, providing backup support to other INEOS facilities, and completing special projects and other assigned responsibilities.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of occupational health nursing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate and provide guidance to part-time, contract, or casual occupational health professionals and contracted site physicians.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, leaders, healthcare providers, and external partners.
Technical Skills
- PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- - Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S)
- - Drug and Alcohol Collection Certification
- - CAOHC Certification (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation)
- - NIOSH Spirometry/Pulmonary Function Testing Certification
- - American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor Certification
