Obstetric Anesthesiologist
About the role
Transform healthcare by diagnosing and treating human disease, illness, and injuries while practicing evidence-based medicine. Prescribe medically necessary medications and treatments. Serve on various Carilion and/or hospital committees. Complete necessary documentation for patients' health information records. Deliver high-quality, compassionate medical care.
Responsibilities
- Examine patients using various medical equipment, instruments, and tests.
- Order or perform various tests, analyses, and imaging to provide information on patients' conditions.
- Diagnose patients' conditions based on examination, test, and report results.
- Prescribe and administer drugs, treatments, and vaccinations.
- May perform perinatal care, deliver babies, perform surgeries, and related invasive procedures.
- Work closely with case management, nursing, and the medical staff to ensure all patients have an appropriate plan of care and ongoing care coordination.
- Support Joint Commission continuous readiness and compliance.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives with hospital management, the medical staff, and employees.
- Complete required documentation timely and accurately.
- Report births, deaths, and contagious diseases as required.
- Conduct, cooperate, support, and collaborate on basic and clinical research.
- Supervise medical treatment of patients, including supervising physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, medical residents, medical students, and/or office staff.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring activities.
