Scheduled Weekly Hours

Essential Duties

  • Provides constant observation of patients in person who are in need of supervision because of possible danger to self and/or others; change in mental status (confusion) that may place the patient at risk for injury and/or interferes with the effectiveness of medical/surgical equipment.
  • Assists licensed staff in the application/removal of restraints.
  • Performs patient assistance such as ambulation and mobilization activities safely.
  • Recognizes patient emergency situations and responds in an appropriate manner.
  • Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via Avasys.
  • Verbal redirection of patients from engaging in risk behaviors.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience

  • Able to follow directions.
  • Demonstrates dependability, punctuality and flexibility.
  • Successfully completes class on role and responsibilities.
  • Command of verbal and written English.
  • Visibly demonstrates commitment to customer service by providing timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and staff.

Education Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of Hospital Orientation / Observation Aide Orientation and Avasys Orientation.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
  • Ability to meet job performance expectations: Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Salary Range

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value Sturdy Health’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
