About the Role
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Oberarzt / Oberärztin (m/w/d) for obstetrics at St. Vincenz Krankenhaus Datteln. Our clinic has been a certified Perinatal Center Level I for over 30 years, with approximately 2,500 births annually. Together with the Vestische Kinder- und Jugendklinik Datteln, we rank among the top 10 of 165 Level-1 centers nationwide each year. Since the end of June, we have been working in 6 new delivery rooms and 2 C-section operating rooms in a direct wall-to-wall solution with neonatology. To further expand our high standard, we are currently investing in interdisciplinary rooming-in rooms and the expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit. We are also being funded by the state of NRW for the project "baby-friendly Perinatal Center" (planned certification in March 2027). We are investing in the future of Level 1 obstetrics.
Responsibilities
- Participate in shaping and disseminating knowledge of high-quality obstetrics
- Manage complex delivery room situations
- Collaborate in a cooperative team of physicians, midwives, and mother-child nurses
- Cover the entire spectrum of obstetrics – from midwife-led delivery rooms to Level-1 perinatal medicine under one roof
Requirements
- Holder of the specialized qualification in obstetrics and perinatal medicine, or desire to obtain this qualification
- Passion for obstetrics
- Strong interest in shaping and disseminating knowledge of high-quality obstetrics

- Commitment to natural births including breech births
- Ability to perform at peak level in complex delivery room situations

About Our Clinic
The Department of Obstetrics (Head Physician: Dr. Mirjam Morgen) works hand in hand with the Department of Gynecology (Head Physician: Dr. Dorothee Drüppel). Our clinic has 79 beds with a staffing ratio of 2-8.75-18.5. Our midwives work as service midwives, are on duty around the clock, but operate independently. The Vestische Caritas-Kliniken GmbH, with approximately 750 beds, is one of the large hospital companies in the Recklinghausen district and is the sponsor of St. Vincenz Hospital in Datteln.
