About the Role
Provides professional and technical support for obstetric patient care, working under Nursing and Medical staff guidance. Performs clinical procedures, clerical tasks, and surgical assistance to ensure quality patient care. Supports unit operations such as maintaining records, patient registration, bed management, supply inventory, phlebotomy, specimen transport, and patient transport. Offers supportive care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for newborns, obstetric, postpartum, and pediatric patients. Works effectively during obstetrical emergencies as part of a team and may be required to take call.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care activities and perform designated clinical procedures.
- Support unit operations, including record-keeping, supply management, and specimen handling.
- Provide supportive care to obstetric, postpartum, newborn, and pediatric patients.
- Maintain professionalism and calmness during obstetrical emergencies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to meet unit goals and ensure quality care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Surgical tech training preferred but certification not mandated.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience in surgical technology or completion of a unit-based competency is required.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and ability to work efficiently in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
